So then Huw, what is it to be? War or Peace?

You are on your own Huw
Good morning Huw, looks as though it is going to be a good day for a protest. True, there is some mist on the two mountains that made the valley that Blaina sits between, but it will clear as it does every day.  Normally I like to just stare through the window and watch that mist clear.

But not today Huw, not today.

Today, I have a lot of things on my mind.  Plans to make, places to go, people to see.  You know the kind of things I mean Huw, because you are going to play a major part in my day out.  In fact you are responsible for a day out that I and many from Blaina do not want.

It must be difficult for you Huw.  What are you going to do when you reach Ebbw Vale?

My first advice to you, would be that you do not scuttle through the back door of the Civic Centre building (our photographers would love that) like a coward. Go through the front doors like a man and see the faces and the anger of the people you may well make sworn enemies for life as you march through their ranks.  That would be your best way to enter the building.

As to what happens inside the building after you have made your shameful case for closing down your most efficient Fire Station in Blaenau Gwent, I have no idea.  I guess there will be questions from the council and I am sure you think you have done your homework and have your replies to those questions ready.  Let us hope for your sake that those replies were not prepared by the same people who drafted the inaccurate proposal otherwise you really are up the creek without a paddle.

Now Huw, you know all we Blaina people want to hear, is that the proposals have been withdrawn.  Do that and we can all go home, some happier than others true - but that is life.

Now I have been told that you have reneged on your word and stated that you are no longer prepared to answer questions afterwards from members of the public - well that is shameful behavior Huw for a man who is supposed to be an Officer and a golf playing gentleman, so please change your mind on that at least.

In fact, if you prefer for just one person to speak to you after the meeting, then speak to me publicly and answer my honest questions in front of the cameras of the world who will be watching and recording for ever, your shallow answers.

But you know something Huw, I do not think that you have much say in the message you are delivering today.  I think that your hands are tied and you have no choice other than to deliver the news that Blaina Fire Station is to close and that this decision was made by others.

If that is the case Huw, be honest and say you have no voice in the matter, that the decision was made by others, then name and shame those people who sent you to Ebbw Vale.

Prove me wrong and withdraw the proposal and I will lead the cheers supporting you in the fact that you listened to the voice of Blaina and we can then all try and get back to normal. We can then let time heal the wounds your announcement to close Blaina Fire Station and put our brave firefighters out of work reopened again.

At this moment in time Huw, your face is only known in certain parts of Wales.  Continue with your plans and soon your face will be recognised around the world as you become known as the man who put money before lives and communities.  Any other ambitions you may have will be ruined as friends and colleagues distance themselves from you.

You will not believe the support that is waiting on the sidelines, ready to be called onto the field to defend Blaina, but know this Huw, you will feel as if the entire front row of the Welsh Rugby team has stomped all over you once their support becomes public.

Now Huw, the clock is ticking down to our confrontation, let it be the only one we have - withdraw the proposal or prepare for a war that is beyond your imagination.
