Quick Report on the Fire Cover Review Phase 2 - Llantrisant 24 March

The boys go in to hear their fate
First up the meat, so you do not have to wait to know how the battle to defend the lives our children and grandchildren in the Blaina, Abertillery and Nantyglo area is going.

I will leave my comments and response for future articles that will now start appearing over the next few months.

Recommendation 6.3 "Members approve in principle the Fire Cover Review proposal ......to close Blaina Fire and Rescue Station subject to independent post-decision scrutiny by Blaenau Gwent County Council scrutiny committee."

The Fire Authority voted for this (no choice really) but the key word is "subject".

Recommendation 6.4  This was the vote to kick start the scrutiny exercise.

The Fire Authority voted for this obviously.

Recommendation 6.5 (The one we were really interested in)

"That a further report be brought back to Members at their September meeting detailing the outcome of the scrutiny exercise by BGC scrutiny committee for Members consideration."

The Fire Authority voted for this unanimously.

So there you have it.  The fight goes on but now we have time to up our game and I tell you this, we need to.

There will be a more detailed report to follow before end of play today.

Now I do not want to hear nonsense that they are closing the station, that is just not true and neither do I want cowardly defeatist talk - we can win this war very easily, but only if you the people, have the will to fight.

Inaccurate information spread by an AM who should know better

Very disappointed in our Welsh Assembly Member, Alun Davies reporting that the Fire Authority voted to close Blaina Fire Station without adding the most important part - subject to scrutiny - which means we have every chance now of winning.  I would now urge Alun to start fighting instead of rolling over like a whipped dog.

For those of you who do not like my style - get used to it.  I am not here to win friends.

  1. Don't close the station why put a life at risk to save money.
